A motorized plastic kit in 1:32 scale from Tamiya of Japan, part number 17003, from the Wild Mini 4WD series as number 3. The model has drive to all four wheels, the motor in the middle of the chassis and a sidewinder-type gear train that distributes the torque to the front and rear axles. The tires are 52 mm in diameter and 31 mm wide, and thanks to them the model can ride on its rear wheels. The manufacturer gives the dimensions as 142 mm long, 125 mm wide and 101 mm high. It is assembled without glue and the motor is part of the package.
The Lunch Box is one of the best known Tamiya bodies: a van with a comic shape and oversized wheels, which came about as a monster truck for radio-controlled models and stayed in this brand range for many years. The Wild Mini 4WD series transfers these bodies onto a small powered chassis in 1:32 scale. It is not a radio-controlled model — once switched on the little vehicle sets off by itself and runs on a track or on a smooth floor, so it belongs more to racing toys than to display-case replicas.
The parts are molded in color, so the build manages without glue and without paints; side cutters and a knife to clean up the sprue attachments are enough. Assemble the gearbox according to the instructions and lightly grease the gears before closing it. Anyone who wants to paint the model has to reckon with a primer coat, because without one paint does not hold on smooth glossy plastic.
The kit is assembled without glue and the motor is part of the package. Two AA alkaline batteries are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
