Decals in 1:32 for Turkish Phantoms, both for the modernized combat version and for the reconnaissance form of the same type.
Responsibility details are not available.
The McDonnell F-4 is among the longest serving combat aircraft in history, and Turkey is one of the last states where it is still held in the inventory. The air force there took the Phantoms over in the 1970s, and later part of the fleet went through an extensive modernization in which the machines were given new avionics, a modified cockpit and the ability to carry modern armament. The reconnaissance version kept its camera nose and accompanied the combat machines on tactical photography.
The sheet covers both forms side by side, the combat one and the reconnaissance one, in the colors of the Turkish Air Force. The designation of the versions in the name matches the way the decal manufacturer itself lists the set, so it is not a garbling: these are the established Turkish designations of the modernized machines. Anyone who builds the equipment of this operator knows that it is precisely the modified machines that differ from the original American deliveries both in finish and in small lettering.
In 1:32 the Phantom is over half a meter long and the areas of the fuselage are enormous, so the long lettering and the stripes on the fin call for a steady hand. The recommended procedure is the usual one: a smooth gloss base, the decal onto a film of water, the excess blotted off and a matte coat over it. On large areas it helps to divide a long decal into two parts, if its artwork allows it. The package contains only the decal sheet; the model and the paints are not part of it. Keep your decal scissors sharp: a frayed edge of the paper shows up under the film as an uneven edge that nobody can save any more.
