Glazing masks for the bomber Mosquito in the large scale, cut for the kit by HK Models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mosquito came about against the habit of its day: with no defensive armament, a crew of two and an airframe bonded from plywood and balsa. The wager was simple, namely that speed would protect the machine better than machine guns. The bomber version of the fourth series bore that reasoning out. The machines carried a bomb load to Germany in broad daylight and came back faster than the opponent's fighter defense could react. The wooden structure also brought furniture workshops into production that would otherwise have stayed out of it. For the modeler the flat windscreen of the cockpit and the large side pane on the right, where the navigator sat, are typical.
The set brings ready self-adhesive cutouts for the glazing of the model by HK Models in 1:32 scale. They are applied from both sides, so the inside of the frame can take the cockpit color and the outside a night or day camouflage.
On a twin-engine machine in this scale the canopy has an area the size of a hand and there are frames on it in abundance. Work with tape by hand takes an evening and still ripples somewhere, whereas with ready shapes it is a calm half hour. The transparent areas also stay protected from overspray under the film.
Insignia and lettering do not belong in the package, as the item keeps to the glass.
