A set of wet transfers in 1:32 scale for a model of the American P-47D Thunderbolt fighter, focused on the machines of the 58th Fighter Group operating over New Guinea. It is not a kit and not a structural accessory — these are markings that are transferred onto a finished, painted model. Check the exact number of schemes and the individual machines on the box.
The difference from an ordinary decal lies in what stays on the model. A classic decal carries the motif on a clear film which remains on the surface after it dries and, in raking light, gives itself away as a glossy island. With a wet transfer the carrier film is peeled off after the transfer and only the motif itself stays on the skin — so it looks painted on. In the large 1:32 scale, where the markings are big and clearly visible, this difference is especially noticeable.
Varnish the area under the transfer with a gloss coat — the markings will not settle on a matte surface. Work with plenty of water and settle the motif with a soft brush by sliding it, not by pulling at the edge. Once it has dried, peel the carrier film off as the instructions say and let the area dry thoroughly. Only then unify the whole model with a matte or satin varnish so that the markings blend optically with the color of the skin. Do any weathering after varnishing, otherwise you would damage the transfer.
The set contains markings only. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
