A decal sheet for aircraft models in 1:32 scale. It carries the pattern listed under the Pine Tree designation, in the variant described as faded, that is in more muted shades. What exactly the sheet contains and which areas of the model the individual pieces belong on is given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
A continuous pattern can hardly be applied evenly with a brush or an airbrush. A printed sheet solves it differently: the pattern is printed in advance and transferred onto the model as a decal, so it comes out the same across the whole area and does not depend on a steady hand. The faded rendering suits a machine that has been in service for a while, and on a model with discreetly accented surfaces it sits better than saturated factory paint.
First overcoat the area under the transfer with gloss varnish; on a matte surface white patches form under the film. Cut out the piece with a narrow margin, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it can be slid off the backing. Settle it on the damp area, press the water out with a soft cloth from the center to the edges and blot the excess. A decal softener helps settle the film into the recessed lines and over the rivets; let it work and do not move the piece any more. Finally overcoat the finished area so that the edges of the film disappear.
For the modeler who is building an aircraft in a large scale and wants an even pattern on the surface. The work calls for patience; large pieces settle less easily than small decals.
