A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:32 scale for a model of the Stearman PT-13/N2S-2/5 Kaydet trainer biplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kaydet is an American trainer biplane on which thousands of pilots learned to fly in the 1930s and 1940s. It had a radial engine, fixed landing gear and two open cockpits one behind the other, the pupil in the front and the instructor in the rear. The designation PT-13 belonged to the machines of the US Army Air Corps and N2S to those of the Navy; it is the same type in a form for two different users. Open cockpits mean that you can see inside on a model, and that is exactly where detail pays off most.
This is a set of photo-etched metal parts for a model in 1:32 scale. Etched metal is flat and very thin, so it can manage shapes that cannot be molded in plastic: instrument panels, small levers, buckles, stiffeners and grilles. Which parts of the model the set covers and in what order they are fitted is given in the manufacturer's instructions and in the illustration on the box; the extent of the set is not stated here.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, otherwise the thin sheet ripples. Make the bends with a bending tool or by laying a blade against the edge, so that the edge is sharp and straight. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a wire, because cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Degrease the parts before painting and use a base color, otherwise the coat will not hold on the smooth surface; then apply the paint in thin layers so that the fine detail is not flooded.
Photo-etched parts are supplied. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
