Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure in 1:48 scale representing the pilot of a General Dynamics F-111 of the Royal Australian Air Force in a standing position, in the version designated type 1. The figure is meant to stand beside the model, at the boarding ladder or in an airfield vignette. It is precisely a human figure that gives a large combat aircraft the sense of scale you will never read off a photograph of the model alone.
The Royal Australian Air Force took the F-111 into service in the 1970s and operated it until 2010, longer than any other user. The nickname Pig caught on for the machine among the personnel. It was a two-seat supersonic combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, with the crew seated side by side and with a jettisonable escape capsule holding the whole cockpit. The Australian machines carried out mainly strike and reconnaissance tasks and were an unmissable part of air shows.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to get the remains of the mold release agent off it. Cut the casting block away with a saw and level the surface; protect your airways when sanding resin. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint over a thin primer: first the base tones of the gear and the skin, then gentle shading with a light and a dark shade, and finally an oil or acrylic wash in the folds of the fabric. Give the face time; the eyes and the shadow under the chin decide whether the figure reads as alive.
