Techmod 1:32 Swirl camouflage is a sheet of decals with the wavy camouflage pattern used on aircraft of the First World War, in 1:32.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet of waterslide decals from the Polish manufacturer Techmod reproduces the wavy, so-called swirl camouflage pattern of aircraft of the First World War in 1:32. The name appears in the form Sworl, while the manufacturer carries it as Swirl camouflage. It is not a kit or a model: the decals are applied to the finished surfaces of a built model and take the place of painting by hand an irregular pattern that is very hard to reproduce faithfully with either an airbrush or a brush.
Aircraft of the First World War were covered in impregnated fabric and wood. Besides printed geometric patterns, camouflages made up of broad wavy strokes also appeared, which broke up the outline of a machine seen from above. A decal reproduction allows the pattern to be carried over onto a model at a consistent quality, including the areas where applying it by hand would be practically unmanageable, that is on the wings and the upper side of the fuselage.
Paint the base with a gloss coat and let it dry completely. Trace the shape of the part onto paper, cut the sheet to that template with a slight margin and apply it surface by surface. Put plenty of water under the film so that it can still be moved and the pattern lined up. Over engraved lines and projections use a decal softener and pierce any bubbles with a pin. Finally even the whole model out with a matte coat, as fabric covering was not glossy.
This is a separate accessory. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
