Real Colors paint set - American naval aviation and the Marine Corps, late war

This is a set of bottled modeling paints, not a kit. AK interactive's Real Colors range is built on a lacquer (solvent) binder; it is not a water-thinnable acrylic. It is thinned only with the thinner meant for this range; water and acrylic thinners cannot be used and would ruin the paint. How many bottles the set holds and what volume they are is stated on the box, so check the figure there.

Use

• Above all for an airbrush: lacquer binders dry quickly and give a smooth, thin film with no brush marks.
• On smaller areas and for touching up it can also be laid on with a brush; working in thin coats is advisable.
• Prepare the surface with a primer: lacquers hold on plastic and on photo-etch excellently, but a smooth, degreased surface will improve the result noticeably.
• Let the paint harden thoroughly before further coats; only then lay on the gloss varnish under the decals and the matte coat afterwards.
• Shake the bottles thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build American carrier machines of the closing part of the Second World War and want the shades together in one package instead of putting them together piece by piece. The late camouflage scheme of American naval aviation was generally built on dark blue and blue-gray tones on the upper surfaces going over to a light underside; which particular shades are in this set, however, cannot be read from the name.

Lacquer-based paints are flammable and hold organic solvents. Work in a well-ventilated space, use a respirator and protect your eyes and skin. Store them out of reach of children and away from sources of ignition.
