An injection-molded plastic model of the American carrier torpedo bomber TBM-3 Avenger in the large scale of 1:32 from the Trumpeter brand. This sizable kit with a high parts count offers rich surface detail, a well-worked cockpit, a radial engine rendered in detail, a dorsal gun turret and photo-etched metal. The large format invites you to paint the interior, the engine and the bomb bay before they are closed up.
The Avenger was the main carrier torpedo bomber of the US Navy in the Pacific. The original Grumman design (the TBF) was also built in quantity under license by a General Motors division, where the machines bore the designation TBM. The three-seat aircraft was powered by a powerful radial engine and carried a torpedo or bombs in an enclosed bomb bay in the fuselage; its defense was provided by a dorsal turret with a machine gun. The Avenger made its name above all in the decisive naval battles of 1944 and became one of the most successful torpedo bombers of the war.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). In the large 1:32 scale it pays to finish and paint the cockpit, the engine, the bomb bay and the gun turret first, and only then to close the fuselage up. Mask the glazing. Apply a primer before painting, lay the paints on with an airbrush in thin coats and bring out the panel lines and the riveting with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
