A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in the large 1:32 scale, intended for the two-seat Lockheed TF-104G Starfighter trainer, specifically for the version with C-2 type ejection seats. It is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket accessory. In a large scale the cockpit interior is particularly visible, so the photo-etched parts do the most work here: they replace crudely suggested instruments and add the side consoles, small levers and seatbelts. Some of the parts are printed in color directly on the stainless steel sheet.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a supersonic aircraft with an extremely thin short wing, designed for high speeds and a fast rate of climb. The TF-104G version was the two-seat trainer variant derived from the multirole F-104G, used to train pilots in European and other air arms. The type of ejection seat is an important distinguishing feature on Starfighters: the older machines had Lockheed C series seats, while some of the aircraft were later re-equipped with more modern seats from a different manufacturer. The cockpits of the two versions therefore differ visibly.
Finish the interior before gluing the fuselage together. Sand the plastic detail under the photo-etch smooth so that the part seats properly. In a large scale the photo-etched parts bend more easily and hold better, but even so use a bending tool and glue with cyanoacrylate glue in a small amount. Do not paint over the color-printed parts and do not clean them with solvent. Shape the belts so that they drape freely over the seat. Because the cockpit is a two-seater, go through the whole build dry first and plan the order of the two crew stations.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
