About product

7.5 cm Pzgr.Patr.40/42 Kw.K.42, ammunition 1:35

A detail set of turned artillery ammunition in 1:35 scale. It contains scaled-down rounds of 7.5 cm caliber for the Kw.K.42 tank gun (L/70 barrel) and usually also the parts of an ammunition crate. It serves as a precise accessory for a vehicle interior or for a diorama; it is not a stand-alone vehicle kit.

The real subject

The Pzgr.Patr.40/42 is a fixed round with a sub-caliber armor-piercing projectile of the Pzgr.40 type, which carried a hard tungsten core in a light body. Thanks to its lower weight it reached a higher muzzle velocity and better penetrating power at shorter range than the ordinary Pzgr.39. Because of the shortage of tungsten this ammunition was rare and was issued in limited quantities. It was intended for the 7.5 cm Kw.K.42 (L/70) gun of vehicles such as the Panther and the Jagdpanzer IV/70.

Usage and painting tips

Wash the mold release agent off the parts and clean up the casting remains. Glue the metal projectiles and cases with cyanoacrylate. Paint the cases in a brass or steel shade and the projectile according to period markings. Fine washes and pigments will give realistic weathering. Protect your airways while sanding.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers building open tank interiors
  • Creators of dioramas with a loading or supply scene
  • Collectors of period 7.5 cm caliber equipment
  • Advanced modelers used to resin and turned parts

This is a detailing accessory, not a vehicle model. The ammunition is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The Pzgr.40 is a sub-caliber projectile with a hard tungsten core: it has a higher velocity and better penetrating power at shorter range, but it was rarer.

No, it is a detail set of 7.5 cm ammunition, an accessory for a vehicle interior or a diorama.

For the Kw.K.42 L/70 tank gun of vehicles such as the Panther and the Jagdpanzer IV/70.

Rather for more advanced modelers, because of the fine turned and resin parts.
