A set of scaled-down rounds for the 7.5 cm Kw.K.40 and Stu.K.40 guns in the L/43 and L/48 versions. It is an accessory for figures, for vehicles with an open ammunition compartment and for dioramas, not a stand-alone model.
The designation Pzgr.Patr.40 denotes an armor-piercing round with a hard-metal core housed in a lighter body. The projectile was lighter than an ordinary armor-piercing shell, left the barrel at a higher velocity and at short range penetrated thicker armor. Tungsten, however, was in short supply, so a crew carried only a few of these rounds in their combat load. The abbreviations L/43 and L/48 give the length of the barrel in calibers, not the caliber: the shorter barrel was carried by the first Panzer IVs with the long 75 mm gun, the longer one by their later versions and by the assault guns with the Stu.K.40.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest off. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well; glue with a glue suitable for the material, and on tiny parts cyanoacrylate works best. The cartridge cases of German tank rounds were brass, and in later production also steel, and both the color and the markings of a projectile differed according to the type of round, so work from period documentation when painting. A kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
