1:35 Bathroom tiles

What the accessory is for

Tiling of small tiles is one of the few areas the viewer measures up subconsciously: the grid has to be regular, the joints vertical and the spacing the same over the whole wall. Marking that out by hand takes a long time and a single twisted row ruins the impression of the whole room. A ready-made area brings an accurate grid straight away and the work is left to laying it out and cleaning up the edges.

What the accessory offers

A sheet motif of bathroom tiles for interior dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale. These details can be found on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions. Depending on the layout of a scene, the area suits a wall as well as a floor.

Usage tips

First think through how far up the wall the tiling reaches; a horizontal finish at the waist height of a figure looks more believable than an area drawn up to the ceiling. Lay the area in place dry, mark it out and make the cuts with a sharp blade along a rule. The undercoat has to be flat and degreased and the area is pressed down as a whole, so that no bubble forms beneath it. The way scenic accessories are fixed differs according to the form, so follow the manufacturer's instructions and do not soak the area until you have checked that it is meant for that. Even with a bathroom in good repair, a slight variation between individual tiles and a fine shadow in the joints will do good, otherwise the area looks flat.
