An add-on set in 1:35 from the manufacturer Gecko Models. According to the name it contains two L31A3 shells, 105 mm ammunition boxes and a pallet. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a kit of equipment but a scenery accessory used to fill the surroundings of the main model, the cargo bed of a truck or the space beside a tank while ammunition is being brought up. These are exactly the small things that give a diorama its sense and a legible story, because they show what is happening in the scene.
Ammunition on a pallet and boxes are a rewarding scenery element: they set up the action, fill the area of a base naturally and give the scene scale. The L31A3 designation refers to British 105 mm ammunition, so the set logically belongs with scenes featuring equipment armed with a gun of that caliber, or with storage and resupply scenes. The set can also be used on its own as a small still life on a base beside the main model.
Nip the parts off with nippers and glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic. Let the boxes look used: a base in a muted shade, a thinned dark wash into the gaps and fine dry-brushing of the edges. Apply any lettering and markings that come with the package onto a glossy surface, so that the decal does not go matte and the edges do not stand out. Set the shells apart with a metal shade of subdued sheen; on the brass parts a fine filter helps to settle metal that looks too new. Make the pallet look like wood with a dark wash into the engraved lines and a light dust pigment at the lower edge.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
