An injection-molded plastic kit of a heavy tracked vehicle designated E60 Ausf. D in 1:35 scale from Modelcollect. The model belongs to the Fist of War line, in which the maker works up hypothetical designs inspired by German development programs of the end of the Second World War. This is the basic version, that is without the add-on side armor the maker offers on another variant of the same vehicle. The kit is supplied to be glued and painted.
The designation E60 does not belong among the real German projects and no such machine was built. The name refers to the E-series program, which was to replace fragmented tracked production with a few standardized weight classes sharing components, with a drive and suspension layout designed for simpler production and maintenance. Only a minimum of types from the program reached real form. The model therefore shows a design idea: a heavy tracked chassis, a rotating turret with a 12.8 cm gun and massive frontal armor. It is best taken as a modeling subject, not as a reconstruction of an existing vehicle.
First finish and paint the running gear and all the surfaces inside the hull that you can no longer reach once it is glued. Try the tracks and wheels dry while the hull is still open. Glue with thin cement for plastic, and fill and sand the seams on the large armor surfaces so that no trace of them is left under the paint. Begin painting with a primer, spray the base in layers with an airbrush and modulate the tone so that the large surface does not look flat. Build the weathering up from a dark wash through dry brushing on the edges to pigments around the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
