Pmask 1:35 Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen, road wheel masks

Die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Polish maker Pmask for painting the wheels of a model of the Flakpanzer IV anti-aircraft vehicle in 1:35 scale. The rings cover the metal part of the wheel, so the rubber tire can be oversprayed with an airbrush and the boundary between the two colors comes out sharp and the same on every wheel. The film used has a weak adhesive, so it does not pull the dried finish off when removed.

The real subject

The Flakpanzer IV, nicknamed Möbelwagen, came about as an anti-aircraft vehicle on the Panzer IV chassis. Its 37 mm gun was protected on the move by folding armor plates that opened out to the sides before firing. The chassis kept road wheels with rubber tires, and setting those off in color is among the most conspicuous details on a model.

Use and tips

• Spray the wheels with the base color of the vehicle first and let them cure.
• Stick the ring exactly onto the hub and press the edge down carefully.
• Overspray the tire in a very dark gray with a hint of brown, not in pure black.
• Take the mask off before the paint has fully cured.

Who the set is for

• For modelers who want clean tires on the wheels without brush work.
• For builds where the running gear is clearly visible and will not tolerate an inaccurate edge.
• For those who want to save time on a large number of wheels.

The package contains masking film only. The paints and the kit are not part of it.
