This photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish brand Aber is not a standalone model but an accessory for raising the detail of the German Flakpanzer V Coelian antiaircraft tank on the chassis of the Panther tank. It adds fine metal elements that injection-molded plastic cannot capture faithfully.

The real subject

The Flakpanzer V Coelian was a German antiaircraft tank project of the close of the Second World War that combined the chassis of the Panther medium tank with a rotating turret for a pair of 37 mm automatic cannons. It got no further than a project and a wooden mock-up and never reached production, but it is one of the favorite what-if subjects among modelers of hardware.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts carefully with a sharp blade, form the bends under a rule or on a bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the fine photo-etched elements with a primer; the detail will come out with a wash in the recesses and a light dusting of pigments.
