Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Marder I tank destroyer on the captured French Hotchkiss chassis, in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the open fighting compartment with an anti-tank gun of 75 mm caliber set on tracked running gear. The package holds finely broken-up plastic parts for building this less usual subject.
The Marder I on the Hotchkiss chassis came about in 1942 by rebuilding captured French light tanks into makeshift but effective tank destroyers. The PaK 40 anti-tank gun of 75 mm caliber was set into an open superstructure, and it could threaten even heavily armored Allied tanks. The vehicle filled out the German anti-tank defense at a time when a full-fledged tracked chassis base was lacking. The real subject is characterized by a tall, open-topped superstructure and a massive barrel above a small chassis.
First finish the running gear and the interior of the fighting compartment, which stays visible on an open vehicle, and paint it before closing the hull. Use thin cement for plastic, apply a primer before finishing and spray the paints with an airbrush. Filters to unify the tone, dark washes into the recesses and dust as well as mud pigments on the running gear and the lower hull suit German schemes well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
