A German sled in 1:35 scale is a resin diorama accessory from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel, intended for winter scenes from the period of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set represents a sled used by the German army in the period of the Second World War and serves as a scenic accessory for a diorama rather than as a model of a combat vehicle. The parts are cast from polyurethane resin, so they carry the fine texture of wood and ironwork that injection-molded plastic would not catch to this extent. The manufacturer is the Czech company Plusmodel, long aimed at accessories and figures in 1:35 scale.
Where wheeled equipment failed in winter, armies went back to the simplest solution, a horse-drawn sled. They carried ammunition, fuel, food and the wounded over snowed-in roads and in mountain terrain where a truck could not get through. It is precisely the contrast between a plain wooden structure and modern combat equipment that makes a sled a rewarding element of winter dioramas and at the same time explains the logistics of a scene.
Wash the parts in soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and glue the joints with cyanoacrylate glue. Wood looks best when oil glazes and a brown wash, which brings out the grooves of the boards, are laid over a light base. The ironwork only has to be darkened with a fine hint of rust. For a winter scene a matte surface suits, with light dust pigments on the underside and remains of snow made of modeling paste.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
