The German tank destroyer on the E-50 chassis in 1:35 scale from Modelcollect is a plastic kit of an unbuilt design vehicle from the German Entwicklung program.

This plastic kit covers a heavy tank destroyer built on the chassis of the standardized E-50 tank, in 1:35 scale. It is fair to say straight away that this is a vehicle that never existed: both the particular shape of the machine and the designation Jagdtiger II are the work of the model manufacturer and draw on the German development program of the end of the Second World War, not on a surviving or photographed example. It therefore belongs among the so-called paper projects.
The Entwicklung program, the E series for short, was meant at the close of the war to unify armored vehicles into a few weight classes with shared parts. The E-50 was the medium to heavy class, which was to replace the existing types; it got no further than drawings, partial components and unfinished projects. Models of this series think the projects through into particular vehicles, including variants without a rotating turret, in which the main weapon is housed in a fixed superstructure. For a modeler this brings a pleasant freedom: there is no period photograph to compare against, so the color scheme and the markings are a matter of your own judgment.
Proceed as with an ordinary armored vehicle model. First the running gear and the hull; fit and paint the tracks before you cover the fenders. The fixed superstructure has large flat surfaces on which every unsanded joint shows. Late German schemes combined a dark yellow base with brown and green patches, and a single-color finish with pronounced shading works well too. For the weathering use a dark wash into the recesses, pigments for mud and dust effects and a light rubbing of the edges with a graphite pencil. Glue the barrel of the main weapon last, as it bends easily during handling.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
