A kit of the Japanese two-seat coupe with the engine in the middle. The name gives the factory code AW11, the late version of the body, the Super Edition trim level and the year 1989. The manufacturer is Hasegawa.
The MR2 came to the market in the middle of the 1980s as an unusually attainable sports car with rear-wheel drive and the engine mounted transversely ahead of the rear axle. A 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder gave the car a lively character, helped by its low weight and short wheelbase. You can recognize the later rendition of the body by the reworked grille and bumpers. The year 1989 given in the name falls at the very end of production of this generation.
First prepare the chassis with the engine bay, and only then glue the shell of the body. Rather sand the sharp edges of the plastic down once the parts are off the sprue. Apply a gloss finish in thin coats and give it time to cure, otherwise a step will form under the decals.
The kit comes unassembled and without a finish; no glue or paint material is included.
