The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the road wheels of the Hummel self-propelled howitzer is cut for the newer Tamiya kit from 2019. It separates the rubber tire band from the wheel rim.

This is not a kit or a set of replacement wheels, but an accessory for painting from Quickwheel. You stick the mask onto a wheel from the box, spray the tire band and the job is done. Its name ties it to the newer molding of the Tamiya kit from 2019; older moldings and kits from other manufacturers have wheels in different sizes, so check the match beforehand.
The Hummel does not stand on the chassis of a single type of tank. Its hull tub is a hybrid that combines elements of the Pz.Kpfw.III and the Pz.Kpfw.IV — from one it took its drive train, from the other its bogie suspension with small road wheels paired on leaf springs. For the modeler that means a great many small discs on each side, each with a narrow rubber rim, plus return rollers above. The vehicle also has a tall open superstructure that draws the attention upwards, so an unfinished running gear is all the more visible from below.
Level the wheels, degrease them and spray the base shade. Lay the mask onto a perfectly set finish, press it down all the way around and spray square in thin coats — a heavy coat likes to bleed under. A tire band looks better in scale in a dark gray than in black. Lift the mask off before the paint has fully cured and only then let the wash and the dust pigments onto the running gear.
This is a masking accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
