Kolossos is a walker, that is, a machine that moves on jointed legs instead of on wheels or tracks, described by the manufacturer as a Russian infantry type. In both its name and its conception it lays claim to being a giant — within the range of the brand it is among the most demanding items. Check the contents of the package once it arrives. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Kolossos is an invented machine. No army ever built or committed such an asset, and the designation Russian infantry walker comes from a fiction created by the manufacturer itself. Walkers are a genre of their own in modeling, on the border between military equipment and science fiction: they work with period-flavored shapes of armor and armament, but they are carried by legs, which gives a model height and an entirely different silhouette from a vehicle. That is exactly why the result is decided the moment you choose the stance.
Wash the parts, let them dry and check that they are complete. Cut off the remains of the gates and any supports, level the surfaces and sand wet with respiratory protection. Given the size of the model, glue the load-bearing joints with super glue and reinforce them with a pin of wire or brass tube; a glued joint on its own will not carry the weight of the upper part permanently. Set the legs out dry and find a natural, asymmetrical stance, and only then fix them. Paint in subassemblies while the areas are still accessible — once it is assembled you will no longer reach the space between the limbs. Shade the base tone into highlights on the upper surfaces, deepen the shadows with a thinned wash and pick the engraving out with a paneliner. The most wear belongs on the feet, the joints and the lower parts: dust, mud and rubbed metal with a dry brush. Because of its size, prepare enough room for the model in a display case.
