The fittings of a tailor's workshop: 29 castings of polyurethane resin complemented with photo-etched sheet. A craft interior in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Military scenes revolve around machines, but the town behind the front lived off trades. A tailor's workshop is one of those that can be settled in with detail: a sewing machine, an ironing board, a dressmaker's dummy, bolts of cloth. The package holds 29 castings of polyurethane resin and photo-etched sheet, so besides the main bodies there are also the parts that would be too thick as a casting.
Glued bodies are given away by a hairline gap at the joint, even under paint. First level both mating surfaces on abrasive paper laid on glass, and only then glue. Fill the remaining groove with thin putty applied along the edge and wipe the surplus off with a cotton swab moistened with alcohol before it hardens; that saves you sanding in a corner. Where sanding is no longer possible, a solvent-based material applied with a brush helps, as it levels itself.
A rolled bolt in resin has its shape given, but it lacks a surface. A flat spray with an admixture of very fine dust gives the fabric the right depth and removes the plastic sheen. For hanging lengths a piece of tissue paper soaked in diluted glue works well, and once dry it holds a fold.
This is exactly where it makes sense to step outside the muted military palette: warm wood, brass on the machine, checkered cloth, white chalk on dark broadcloth. The contrast with the vehicles outside gives the scene its point. The scope of the package also lets you set some of the pieces aside and use them later in another scene.
