The single version of the locker in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer MAiM is a piece on its own, which fits where a whole block of lockers would not. It is precisely individual pieces of furniture that give an interior its naturalness, because a room furnished one piece at a time looks lived in rather than like a showroom display. The locker is supplied as an unpainted casting to be cleaned up and painted.
A lone locker is a storyteller in itself: it stands in the corner of a guardroom, in the corridor of a shelter, in the corner of a garage next to the bench, or lies knocked over in the rubble of a bombed house. It also works superbly outside an interior, carried out into a yard during a clearance, loaded on the bed of a truck, leaning against a wall. If you need to fill a longer wall, reach for the triple version from the same range; the two variants can be freely combined. The 1:35 scale matches ordinary figures and vehicles.
After cleaning up and priming, choose a typical shade, olive, gray or cream, and turn to the wear: chipped edges with a sponge, fine rust at the foot, handprints around the handle created with a dark wash. The contrast of a maintained locker in a derelict room, or conversely a rusted locker in a clean interior, creates a tension in a scene that the viewer reads subconsciously.
