Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M41 light tank in 1:35 scale. It is a classic set from the Tamiya workshop that has been in production since the middle of the 1970s. The surface of the parts carries suggested welds and the texture of castings. The package holds three figures, one of them a commander for the turret, and a decal sheet for machines of the US Army and of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
The M41 Walker Bulldog was created as a successor to the light tanks of the Second World War. It carried a 76 mm gun and was designed to stay light and air-transportable while still being able to support reconnaissance and cavalry units with fire. It served with the US Army and with a number of allies, Japan among them, and in the 1960s it appeared in Southeast Asia. The compact hull with its exposed running gear and the low silhouette made it a machine better suited to reconnaissance than to a head-on duel with heavy tanks.
Finish and paint the running gear before you fit the tracks and the side skirts. With older tooling it pays to dry-fit the parts and sand the mating surfaces lightly. Paint the figures separately and set them into the model only at the end. An olive finish comes alive nicely with lighter highlighting of the upper surfaces, a flowing wash into the recesses and earthy pigments on the track runs.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
