The accessory captures a metal stowage box together with the bracket it was fastened to the hull of the StuG III assault gun in the Ausf. G version with. The configuration matches the vehicles of the LSSAH unit according to the name and is marked as type 2, that is a variant differing in shape from type 1, which is a separate item. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a single feature for a model already built. The material and the number of parts are stated on the box.
Stowage boxes were among the most variable parts of the external equipment. They did not arise centrally but in field workshops, so they differed in dimensions, in the shape of the lid and in the way they were mounted, and that even between vehicles of a single unit. A model built exactly from the box therefore captures only one general form. When you want to match a particular machine from a period photograph, it is precisely the boxes, brackets and tool stowage that decide the likeness. The choice between type 1 and type 2, or between a metal and a wooden configuration, is therefore a matter of the subject you are building, not a question of a better and a worse part.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that no mold release agent stays on them, and let them dry perfectly. Cut the casting blocks off rather than snapping them, and sand the surface back wet with protection for your breathing. Use super glue, because ordinary cement for plastic does not take on resin. Before fitting, try the box and the bracket dry and lay out the order of work: if the part sits close against the hull, paint it separately and glue it on at the end. When weathering, work from the fact that a metal locker lived differently from the armor: the edges tend to be worn, the surface dented and rust collects in the lower corners and around the mountings.
