This item is not a kit of a vehicle, but a casting of an accessory in its own right. It represents a metal box carried on the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun, specifically in the form corresponding to a vehicle of the Totenkopf unit. Stowed loads are among the features that most set a model apart from others of the same type, because the arrangement of boxes and tools differed on every vehicle.
The StuG III Ausf. G is a German assault gun built on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank. It was produced from the end of 1942 and was the most numerous version of the whole line. It carries a 7.5 cm gun in a low turretless superstructure, which gave it a small silhouette; it gradually received additional armor, Schürzen side skirts and a modified commander's position. In service the vehicles were commonly supplemented with boxes for the crew's personal gear and materiel, fastened on in improvised ways.
Wash the casting in warm soapy water, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Sheet metal is painted differently from wood: a base in the color of the vehicle, fine wear in metallic paint or with a pencil on the edges, and rust only sparingly, so that it does not look like a wreck. A dark wash will bring out the latches and the rims, and a dry brush will then draw out the edges of the lid.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
