Fencing is the small thing in a scene that decides how convincing the whole looks. It encloses a yard, separates the road from a garden and tells the viewer at once where the scene begins and ends. This pattern matches an ordinary town fence with regular vertical bars, the kind that can just as well be set in front of a factory, around a park or along the drive up to a house.
The large package brings three separate items from the manufacturer together: two of the basic fence part in pattern B and one part with a gate.
The parts are separated from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, so that the thin bars do not bend. The joints are held by cyanoacrylate applied with the tip of a piece of wire; on larger areas a two-part adhesive is safer. Before painting, degrease the surface with spirit and go over it with a primer for metal. Rust is created with a light dusting of pigment into wet varnish, and chipping marks suit the feet and the gate hinges best.
It works best where it has something to enclose: along a sidewalk with a curb, around a lawn in front of a building or as a divide between the road and rubble. A leaning panel or a bar bent by a vehicle hitting it gives a scene a story better than a perfectly straight line.
The set is a scenery accessory; no vehicle and no figures belong to it.
