A plastic kit of the Bell AH-1G Huey Cobra attack helicopter in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov. The Early epithet in the name refers to the early form of the machine; check the actual contents of the package and the range of decal schemes against the information on the box. Kovozavody Prostejov have a long tradition in 1:72 and make this subject in several boxings, so you can choose according to which markings you want to build.
The AH-1G was the first series-built helicopter designed directly for combat support. It grew out of the proven powerplant and rotor system of the UH-1 type, but received a completely new, very narrow fuselage with a tandem two-seat cockpit — gunner at the front, pilot behind and above him. It was powered by a turboshaft engine, carried racks on short stub wings and a movable gun armament in a nose turret. It is precisely the narrow silhouette seen head on that is its most typical feature, and it looks superb on a model.
Prepare and paint the cockpit before you glue the fuselage up — afterwards you can no longer get inside. The cockpit glazing on the Cobra is large and dominant, so it pays to mask carefully and to clean up the transitions of the frames with a pointed toothpick. Spray the fuselage over a primer, which will show up any gaps in the joint. Paint the rotor blades separately and fit them at the end. Put gloss varnish under the decals, matte the finish once it has dried, and only then do the weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
