This item is not a kit of a vehicle, but an add-on set of photo-etched sheet metal. It serves to replace the coarser plastic parts of the mine-clearing equipment with metal ones: frames, stiffeners, holders and small flat elements which, in 1:35 scale, make a substantial difference on a finished model. Behind the set stands Voyager Model, a maker specializing in metal upgrade sets. The set is intended for the Panda Hobby TK-09 kit.
SPARK II designates a later form of the American assembly of mine rollers carried on the nose of an armored vehicle. The principle remains the same as on the previous version: the rollers run ahead of the vehicle, exert pressure on the road and set off improvised explosive devices at a safe distance ahead of the crew. The equipment was used mainly on wheeled vehicles protected against mines, where it formed a conspicuous and easily recognizable part of the silhouette.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a scalpel on glass or on a hard surface, so that the metal does not bend. A bender will make precise bends; at a pinch, two blades or a steel ruler will do. Fix the joints with cyanoacrylate glue applied in drops, and solder the stronger joints rather than gluing them. The metal has to be degreased and sprayed with primer before painting. On real vehicles the roller tends to be the most scuffed and dusty part, so when painting, grant it wear on the edges, a fine rust and dry pigment.
This is an accessory, not a kit – the model of the vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package. Please check the match with your own kit beforehand.
