A resin replacement part of the running gear for models of the Panther tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a single drive sprocket that replaces the plastic part from the base kit. The casting is conceived as disassembled, that is the individual parts of the sprocket are separate. Thanks to that, even the faces that are usually hidden in the parting line of the mold with injection-molded plastic are sharp, and the sprocket can also be tilted or partly exposed on the model.
The Panther had its drive sprocket at the front, and with interleaved running gear with large road wheels it is one of the few suspension elements that really is clearly visible on a finished model. The teeth, the rims and the connecting bolts are meanwhile among the details that injection-molded plastic reproduces worst, because they are cast across the parting line. A resin replacement gets round that problem and at the same time opens the way to a repair scene, with the sprocket lying away from the vehicle.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw; never snap them off, as a tooth is easily broken off a toothed rim. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; plastic cement does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting. On a finished sprocket a dark wash into the recesses suggests itself, along with fine wear on the edges of the teeth, because that is where the paint rubbed off first on the real vehicle.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
