The set holds cast tools and equipment that on the real machine were carried fixed to the fenders and the sides of the hull. It is neither a kit nor a model in its own right — the item serves as a replacement for the shapes molded directly into the plastic, which tend to be simplified and indistinguishable in color from their surroundings.

Why with this class of vehicle in particular

Medium tanks carried their tools on the large flat areas of the fenders, where they show from every angle. The difference between molded relief and separate parts therefore tells more strongly here than on smaller machines. The retaining straps and brackets are especially evident: on separate castings they have a thickness and a shadow of their own, while on molded tools they merge with the surface.

Building and painting tips

• First mark the position of the original tools on the model, and only then pare them off — otherwise you lose your reference for placing them.
• Polish the sanded spot with a fine abrasive, so that no matte mark stays in the base color after the work.
• Paint the handles in a wood shade, the metal parts in dark steel, and wear the edges with a dry brush.
• Glue the tools on only after the hull is painted, and you save yourself the masking.
• Finally let the same wash and the same pigments pass over the tools as over the rest of the model, otherwise they will look stuck on.

For modelers of intermediate level and above who build German vehicles in 1:35 and want to push the detail beyond the level of a box build. The work calls for a sharp scalpel, calm and patience while removing the original shapes.
