This item is a detail accessory (aftermarket set) from Quickboost, a supplementary line by the Czech firm Aires. It contains replacement engine cowlings with cooling flaps in the open position for the B-25J Mitchell bomber kit in 1:48 scale from HK Model. This is not an aircraft model or a kit — the kit must be purchased separately and is not included in the package.
The B-25's radial engines had a ring of cooling flaps around the rear of the engine cowling. On the ground, during start-up, taxiing and climb, they were opened fully so the airflow could carry heat away from the cylinders; only in cruise flight were they closed partway to reduce drag. Most photos of parked aircraft therefore show the flaps open. Plastic kits usually offer them as a single closed part for technical reasons. Swapping in this set therefore livens up the model: the engine cowling gains depth, the thin edges of the flaps and the space behind them become visible, and the engine nacelle looks realistic — especially on a model presented in a ground scene.
For modelers building the B-25J Mitchell in 1:48 scale who want to lift the detail of the engine nacelles above what the box offers. Working with resin takes a bit of experience and a steady hand, but the installation itself is straightforward and requires no modifications to the model's structure.
This is a detail accessory, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
