This is a photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:35 scale. It contains the side armor skirts (Schürzen) and their hangers for the Panzer IV medium tank in the Ausf. H version. It is not a model of the tank but an accessory that replaces the thick plastic skirts from the kit with faithfully thin photo-etched parts.
Schürzen were thin side armor skirts that the Germans mounted on the hull and the turret of Panzer IV tanks as protection against anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge ammunition. On the Ausf. H version they were part of the typical appearance of the vehicle, and their faithful, thin rendering fundamentally affects the realism of the silhouette.
The photo-etched parts are separated from the fret, shaped with tweezers and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The skirts can be bent or partly damaged so that they look battle-worn. Once painted, realism is added with weathering, dust and worn edges.
This is a photo-etched accessory for refining a model, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
