An injection-molded plastic kit of the German medium tank Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.N in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The model captures the infantry support version armed with a short 75 mm gun. Among other things the box contains an aluminum barrel, parts for two forms of the gun mantlet, a turret with smoke discharger screens and one tank crew figure; check the particular number of parts and schemes against the manufacturer's information.
The Ausf.N was the last production version of the Panzer III. Instead of an anti-tank gun it carried a short (low-velocity) 75 mm gun taken over from the early Panzer IVs, and it served for direct fire support of infantry. A number of these vehicles were assigned to heavy tank battalions as escorts for Tigers. Production ran from 1942.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close them up with the superstructure. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic; attach the aluminum barrel with cyanoacrylate. German machines of the later period carried a yellow base color (Dunkelgelb) with camouflage oversprays — after the base coat and a gloss coat under the decals, bring out the detail with a wash and add dust and mud with pigments. A version with a desert scheme can be given a strong dusty tint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
