The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the road wheels of the Pz.38(t) light tank is cut for the Tamiya kit. It masks out the wheel rim so the tire band can be sprayed in one go.

An accessory for painting from Quickwheel. You stick the masks onto the wheels from your own kit and spray the tire bands with an airbrush. According to its name the set is cut for the Tamiya kit; wheel masks are always tied to a particular molding, because they are cut exactly to the diameter of the given part.
The Pz.38(t) differs from most German vehicles at first glance. Instead of a crowd of small discs it has only four large road wheels on each side, sprung in pairs on leaf springs, with two return rollers above. The wheels are strikingly large in scale and their rubber tire band is therefore wide and long — which changes the nature of the work: there are few discs, but each is prominent and any imprecision on a long arc is immediately visible. It is precisely with this subject that lining a tire band by hand tends to harm the model, because the eye settles on a large wheel automatically. The drive sprocket at the front and the idler wheel at the rear are also of different design, so think in advance about what you are painting as rubber and what as metal.
Level the wheels, degrease them and spray the base shade. Apply the mask to a perfectly set finish and press the whole circumference down carefully. Spray square, in thin coats. Choose a tire band shade toward a dark gray; a rich black on a large wheel looks flat in scale. Take the mask off before the paint has fully cured.
This is a masking accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
