This injection-molded plastic kit captures the German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tank in the Ausf. H version. 1:35 is the most widespread scale for armored machinery, so the model will complement a collection and dioramas well and accessories, figures and decals are easy to obtain for it. The model is meant to be glued together and painted.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV was the backbone medium tank of German production and it went through a whole series of production versions during the war. The Ausf. H was among the most numerously built forms: it carries a long gun of 7.5 cm caliber, strengthened frontal armor on the hull and turret and the typical side armor skirts, in German Schürzen, protecting the sides of the hull and turret from shaped-charge projectiles and anti-tank rifles. This combination gave the vehicle the characteristic angular silhouette by which the Ausf. H is recognized at first glance. Later examples differed in simplified manufacture of the running gear and in the replacement of some pressed parts.
Finish the running gear and the tracks before closing the hull, and fit the tracks only after the wheels have been painted. Glue the Schürzen on at the end of the build, as they otherwise block access to the detail of the hull, and do not be afraid to suggest bends and missing pieces on them, which will give the vehicle an authentic look. Spray the base shade with an airbrush and deal with the camouflage by freehand spraying or over masking putty. After the gloss coat apply the decals, then a dark wash in the engraving, a dry brush on the edges and finally dust and mud pigments on the underside of the hull, the tracks and the fenders.
