Masks for the road wheels of the Pz.Kpfw. IV and the Brumbar in 1:35 scale

This set is neither a model nor a spare part; they are masking elements for wheels. They are applied to the road wheels molded in the kit and make it possible to spray the tire and the wheel in different shades with a sharp boundary. The set is cut for the kits of the Pz.Kpfw. IV and of the Brumbar assault gun built on its chassis from the Dragon and Cyberhobby companies. The material, the number of pieces and the dimensions of the sheet are stated on the box of the set.

How much time the set saves

A chassis of this design carries the road wheels in pairs on several bogies and in addition an idler and a drive sprocket. Drawing the tire by hand means two or three careful turns of the brush on every wheel and then corrections, and over a whole running gear that adds up to long tens of minutes of concentrated work that cannot be interrupted. With masks the whole running gear is covered in roughly a quarter of an hour, sprayed all at once, and the edges come out the same. Time is saved, though, only when you sort the wheels by position beforehand, otherwise the masking is needlessly drawn out by searching for the right piece.

Practical notes

• Leave the wheels on wire or a skewer, as that speeds up spraying and drying.
• Apply the masks onto a cured base, not onto fresh paint.
• Spray at a right angle and in thin coats, which lowers the risk of running under.
• Store the remainder of the sheet flat, as a bent mask stops seating well.
