About product

Aber 1:35 Pz.Beob.Wg. III, Ausf. H (Sd.Kfz. 143) – photo-etched parts

This photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish brand Aber is not a standalone model but an accessory for raising the detail of the German Panzerbeobachtungswagen III (Sd.Kfz. 143) artillery observation vehicle in the Ausf. H version. It adds fine metal elements that injection-molded plastic cannot capture faithfully.

The real subject

The Panzerbeobachtungswagen III was a German observation vehicle of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. It served to direct the fire of self-propelled artillery and carried extensive radio and optical equipment. On a number of vehicles the external barrel was only a dummy, and the space inside was filled with radio sets and the observer's instruments.

Building and painting tips

Separate the parts carefully with a sharp blade, form the bends under a rule or on a bending tool and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the fine photo-etched elements with a primer first; the detail will come out with a dark wash in the recesses and a light dusting of pigments.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers who want to lift the detail of an observation vehicle on the Panzer III basis
  • Builders of German armor of the Second World War
  • More experienced modelers with photo-etched metal behind them

This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not the model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No, it is a photo-etched detail set. The base plastic kit of the vehicle has to be obtained separately.

It directed the fire of self-propelled artillery; it carried extensive radio and optical equipment and on a number of vehicles the barrel was only a dummy.

Working with photo-etched metal calls for a certain dexterity in bending and gluing small metal parts.
