The Ural-63095 belongs to the Russian family of wheeled armored vehicles designated Typhoon. It is a newer generation of vehicle in which the main requirement is protecting the crew being carried: an armored cab, bullet-resistant glazing and a shaped hull floor meant to deflect the blast wave of an explosion away from the crew compartment. The vehicle is based on a heavy truck chassis, so it keeps a high ground clearance and good cross-country mobility.
In 1:35 scale the vehicle comes out as a sizeable piece with large flat surfaces. It is precisely those that give room for work on the finish: dust on the fenders, wear around the doors and the entry steps, mud deposits in the wheel arches. Beside classic tanks a modern armored truck looks unusual in a display case and it combines well with figures or with a diorama.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions and keep dry-fitting the assembly as you go, especially on the cab and the body. It is practical to spray the large parts with a base color before final assembly, because some places are hard to reach later. Wash and degrease the surfaces before painting so that the finish holds. Leave the wheels and the underside of the vehicle until last, when you will be toning the buildup of terrain.
