Extended landing flaps for the Lockheed L-188 Electra in 1:144 scale. An accessory that turns a quietly standing model into an aircraft in the landing configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set for improving the model of the American turboprop airliner in 1:144 scale. It replaces the fixed trailing edge of the base kit with a rendition that has the flaps lowered to the full angle, that is in the state where the machine is descending to the runway. The kit the accessory is intended for is named in the name of the item.
The Electra was the first large turboprop airliner built in the United States. Four Allison units powered a medium-sized machine intended for routes where a jet would not have paid for itself. After two accidents at the start of the 1960s the design went through changes to the mounting of the engine nacelles. Cargo versions and firefighting specials, meanwhile, went on flying long afterward.
Cut the original edge away only after checking the outline dry, and make sure the cut runs in the same plane on both wings. Paint the inner surfaces before you glue the flaps on, because once they are seated a brush will no longer reach them. The thin edges call for careful sanding, so that they do not stay square.
