A set of eight resin S-shaped towing clevises in 1:35 scale replaces the simplified plastic parts on the hulls of the Panzer III and early Panzer IV tanks.

This is not a vehicle kit but a resin detail accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT. According to the name the package contains eight castings of the S-shaped towing clevis, that is the shackle by which a tow cable or a tow bar was attached to the eyes on the hull. The parts are intended for the Panzer III family and for the early versions of the Panzer IV and they replace thick-walled or shape-simplified plastic components. Eight pieces are enough to fit more than one vehicle, or to stow spare clevises on the fenders and the sides of the hull.
A towing clevis is a simple forged or cast shackle with a cross pin. On German medium tanks of the Second World War it was carried in pairs on the front and rear of the hull and used both for towing and for recovery. A cast surface, rounded edges and a distinct pin are among the shapes that are hard to form in injected plastic, because a mold needs free directions in which to open. A resin casting is freer in this respect and holds a thinner section and a crisper transition between the eye and the pin.
First separate the parts from the casting block with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc in a micro drill; never break them off, because resin cracks in a thin section. Sand the sprue nub flat and then wash the castings in warm water with detergent, so that any residue of mold release agent disappears. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, preferably the thicker gel, which gives time to true the position up. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise paint holds badly on smooth resin. The clevises are usually sprayed in the same base shade as the vehicle, and only then brought to life with a dark filling shade in the recesses and fine metal wear on the edges the crew touched.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is not a complete vehicle model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
