About product

September 1939, Polish infantryman with full field equipment, 1:35 scale, Toro Model

This is a stand-alone resin figure in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Toro Model. It is not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft but a figure meant to bring a diorama to life or to be displayed beside a finished model of a piece of equipment. The casting is supplied unassembled and unpainted, in bare resin; paints, glue and a base are not included in the box.

The real subject

The subject is a soldier of the Polish infantry from the period of September 1939 in field uniform and with full field equipment, as the name of the set states. Polish infantry of the day wore a khaki uniform, a steel helmet and gear carried on the belt and on the back: a pack, a haversack, a canteen and ammunition pouches. The figure is conceived as a rank-and-file soldier, so it fits both infantry scenes and dioramas with armor of the same period.

Building and painting tips

First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue, otherwise the paint holds badly. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a knife and sand the surfaces; protect your airways when sanding resin and work in a ventilated space. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and small gaps can be filled with modeling filler. Lay on a thin primer before painting. Acrylics suit both the flesh and the uniform well, and shading with oil paints gives the folds of the cloth depth. Finish the buckles, clasps and metal parts with a dry brush.

Who the figure is for

  • Modelers who build dioramas from the period of 1939
  • Adding scale and a human dimension to a 1:35 vehicle model
  • Figure collectors who want to practice painting flesh and uniforms
  • More advanced modelers used to working with resin

The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. It is supplied as an unpainted resin casting; the painting and any base are up to the modeler.

Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Ordinary polystyrene cement does not work on resin.

All models and dioramas in 1:35 scale, above all equipment from the late 1930s.

Yes, we recommend washing the mold release agent off the casting, removing the casting blocks and laying on a thin primer.
