That detail matters with Quickwheel sets: separate sets are cut under the same Sherman name for other manufacturers' kits, differing precisely in which kit they are cut for. Wheels vary in size between manufacturers, and a mask from one set will not fit another model exactly.
It pays to treat the running gear as one task rather than as a collection of small jobs. The order that works looks like this: the primer over the whole hull and running gear first, then the rubber shade on the wheels, then the masks and the rim color, and only at the very end the tracks, which are dealt with separately.
