A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It represents the Soviet tank gun of 45 mm designated the 20-K, with which the fast tank BT-7 was armed. It is not a model of a tank but a detail accessory: the metal barrel replaces the plastic part, which on thin small-caliber weapons tends to be bent and to have a blind muzzle.
The BT-7 was a Soviet fast tank of the second half of the 1930s, the last and most widespread member of the BT family. It followed the concept allowing it to run on tracks and on wheels alike and it stood out for its high speed. The main weapon was the gun of 45 mm of the 20-K type, the standard Soviet tank weapon of that time, which also appeared on T-26 tanks and on armored cars. The BT-7 took part in the fighting in the Far East, in Finland and in the first months of the fighting of 1941.
Cut off the plastic barrel at the root, clean out the opening in the mantlet or the shield and push the metal part home. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen the mating surfaces lightly; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a base coat meant for metals onto the metal parts, or the paint will hold poorly. The hollow muzzle stands out when you darken it lightly from inside with a soot shade. On Soviet vehicles it suits the base green shade to be completed with a dusty cast at the bottom of the hull and a gentle abrading of the edges; a thin metal barrel will also take a careful polishing of a metallic sheen at the muzzle.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
