Plastic kit of the Soviet military motorcycle M-72 in 1:35 scale from Zvezda, in the version with the 82 mm mortar.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet military motorcycle M-72 in 1:35 scale from the Russian maker Zvezda, part number 3651. The box gives the version with a mortar of 82 mm caliber; for it the manufacturer states 121 parts and an assembled length of 8.3 cm. The parts are in a light sand color and the instructions are black and white. It is a small vignette that works well in a diorama alongside a larger vehicle.
The M-72 motorcycle came about in the Soviet Union in 1941 by adapting the German BMW R71 machine for home production. The army version had a sidecar, ammunition panniers and a mount for a Degtyaryov light machine gun. Some units carried a mortar of 82 mm caliber on the motorcycle, that is a company-level weapon; a motorcycle patrol thus turned into mobile fire support for the infantry and for scouts. The M-72 served through the whole of World War II and in modified forms for a long time after it.
With a motorcycle it pays to start with the frame and engine, because on the finished model they are largely visible. Replace the thin cables and control runs with wire; the plastic is heavier in those places than the real thing. Give the finished assembly a base coat and only then the Soviet green; pick out the metal of the exhaust and the mortar barrel in a dark steel shade. Finish with a wash into the joints and fine dust on the tires and fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
