A photo-etched accessory set from the Czech maker Hauler for a kit of the light off-road car. In the package there is no model but a set of metal parts meant for a kit you already own, cut for one particular kit, from Tamiya. On soft-skin vehicles photo-etch comes into its own differently than on tanks: less on the grilles and more on the brackets, the hinges, the catches, the grab handles, the stiffeners, the instrument panel and the small equipment that can be seen from outside in an open car.
The Steyr 1500A was a light off-road car of Austrian production with an air-cooled engine, used by the German army in the Second World War. It arose in forms with a cargo and a passenger body, and the Kommandeurwagen version served as a staff and command car. The air-cooled engine was a practical advantage on the Eastern Front, because the troubles with coolant freezing fell away. The cars appeared in every theater of operations and so have a very wide spectrum of possible color forms and degrees of wear.
With an open car the order of the work changes a great deal. The interior cannot be added to once the body is closed, and yet on this type it stays permanently in view. So plan the whole procedure in advance and try everything dry: offer the photo-etched part up, check what can still be sprayed once it is glued, and only then glue. Dividing the build into subgroups - the chassis, the interior, the body - and painting and weathering each one separately before they are joined together proves its worth. Leave the small photo-etched parts on the fret as long as you can, as they are easier to handle and to paint. Degrease the metal before gluing, use the thicker super glue in a minimal amount and put a primer on the metal surfaces. For the weathering of the interior a dark wash and drybrushing suit, and with the seats a fine dirtying of the edges the crew got in by will help.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
