About product

Return rollers for the StuG III Ausf. G, Alkett production November 1943 to March 1944 - 1:35

The set from the ELEFANT brand is a replacement accessory for a plastic model of the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun in 1:35 scale, not a stand-alone model. According to the name it is the standard of the return rollers of the upper run of the track from production at the Alkett works in the defined period from November 1943 to March 1944. The name describes the extent of the package as being for one vehicle; the number of individual pieces is stated on the box.

How to tell that you need this particular variant

The guide is always a photograph of the particular machine you are building, not a generic drawing of the type. On return rollers what is watched is the number and arrangement of the openings in the disk, the width of the tread and the design of the center. Because the brand offers several separate sets for the same type of vehicle distinguished by works and time window, it pays to compare the picture of the part with the subject before you reach for the glue. The universal roller from the box is usually a compromise between several series.

Fitting and painting tips

First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that the residue of the mold release agent disappears from the surface, otherwise neither primer nor paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disk rather than with nippers for plastic: resin is brittle and a piece of the part is easily chipped off. Clean up the parting line with a file and a sanding sponge, ideally wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary plastic cement does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting.

Who the set is for

  • Builders who model a particular machine from a period photograph
  • Modelers in 1:35 with an interest in the details of the running gear
  • Those who know how to cut off a casting block and glue resin
  • Collectors who build several variants of the StuG III side by side

The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package. Check the fit with your model beforehand.

FAQ

The name defines the production works and the time window. You will best judge the particular differences in shape from the brand's other sets by comparing them with a period photograph of the machine you are building.

A saw or a cutting disk for cutting off the casting blocks, a file and a sanding sponge are enough. Nippers for plastic are not suitable for resin.

Yes. Wash them in lukewarm water with detergent and apply primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the residue of the mold release agent.

According to the name these are return rollers. The complete contents of the package are stated on the box.
